What is a zip line tour?

A Zip Line Canopy Tour is a series of cables and platforms that take you on an exhilarating tour through forests and wildlife. Zip Line Canopy Tours were originally created to study different plant life and trees in Costa Rica.

Are reservations required?

Reservations are strongly encouraged. Without a reservation, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate you, although we will try to accommodate people stopping in if we have space available. Book Today!

What is included? 

Kerfoot Canopy Tour includes:

  • 2.5 hour guided outdoor adventure
  • 14 zip lines
  • 170 foot suspension bridge
  • light hiking
  • an ATV ride to the start of our course
  • flying through a mature, dense forest from treetop platforms
  • zipping at extreme speeds, over 175 feet above the ground at points during your tour
  • zip line fun on over a mile in length of zip lines

What are the age and weight requirements?

Guests must be between 70 and 250 pounds and 10 years old or older.

Is personal handheld photography allowed on the canopy tour?

Personal handheld photography is not allowed on our zip line course due to our hand braking system. If you would like photos of your experience you are welcome to bring your own hands free camera, such as a GoPro, or you may rent one for $30 which includes the use of the camera as well as an SD card of your footage. If you bring your own, we use helmet mounts.

Do you offer gift certificates for the canopy tour?

How can I make group reservations for groups of 10 or more people?

Please call us at 952-873-3900 or fill out our group form to organize a group reservation. We also welcome group requests via email at We welcome groups of all sizes from a small scout group or birthday party to a large bus tour or corporate team building activity. Depending on when you want to join us for your next group experience, we have other custom options available. We look forward to hearing from you soon. 

What if I am running late?

All canopy tours begin at the booked time, so please arrive 30 minutes in advance.

What is your canopy tour cancellation policy?

Our canopy tour runs in all weather, unless extreme winds or lightning. Our course manager on duty will determine tour cancellations and guests may be notified at anytime regarding a cancellation. If your tour is cancelled, we will offer you the opportunity to re-book the tour within a month of your cancellation date when we have availability.

Cancellations made 7 days in advance will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made within 7 days of a reservation will not be refunded, but you can reschedule.

What if it rains?

We operate in all weather except high winds or lightning determined by our manager on duty. If it rains (or snows), we recommend wearing appropriate clothing. If we cancel your tour or experience, we will work with you to re-book it. Ponchos are available in the outpost.

What should I wear on a canopy tour?

Dress for the weather, meaning warm weather clothes if it is warm, cool weather if it is cool, rain coats if it is raining, sunscreen if it is sunny, etc. We require that you wear closed toe and heel shoes with socks. We recommend that you wear pants or shorts long enough to feel comfortable with a harness on your legs. Please do not wear skirts. Please tie back long hair. Shirts are required. Kerfoot Canopy Tour is not responsible for items lost or stolen so feel free to leave valuables at home or in your car.

Visit the Minnesota River Valley Scenic Byway website for information about other attractions, dining, and lodging in the area. Kerfoot Canopy Tour is located near the towns of Henderson and Belle Plaine, Minnesota.

Do you have a grill for guests to use?

Yes, we have a gas grill available for guests to use if you want to bring your own lunch fixings. The grill is located right outside our check in building, and picnic tables are available.

Does your canopy tour really last 2.5 hours?

Yes, when running at expected capacity! From the time you arrive to the time you leave, the canopy tour will take approximately 2.5 hours if your tour runs at normal capacity of 10 guests with 2 sky guides. Your visit, including arrival, gear up, ATV ride to the start of the course, zip line training, the canopy tour, and taking off your gear. If there are fewer riders on your tour, your tour may be shorter in duration.

The Minnesota River Valley Scenic Byway is a gorgeous road that winds alongside the Minnesota River Valley.

What is your Calendar of Operation?

Kerfoot Canopy Tour runs zip line tours year round weather permitting and our hours of operation do change seasonally. 

What if it is too cold outside? 

Please be aware that our winter months can be pretty cold. Zipping in the cold is fun, if you are dressed for the weather. We recommend you layer your clothing. Based upon the temperature we recommend that you consider wearing long underwear, wool socks, warm cap, warm jacket, glove liners. We have ‘hot hands’ and glove liners for sale at the outpost.  If you have any questions, feel free to call the office.
